When I sat down to write The Mushroom Cave, I wasn’t just crafting a story—I was honoring a memory. This book is deeply personal to me because it was inspired by my late cat, a little adventurer who left paw prints not just on my floors but on my heart.

She was more than just a pet; she was my shadow, my companion, and my quiet cheerleader. Whether I was walking around the house or stepping into the garden, she followed me everywhere with her curious eyes and soft little steps. Her adventurous spirit often made me wonder what kind of magical worlds she might stumble upon if given the chance.

In The Mushroom Cave, Amelia, a curious and brave 11-year-old girl, embarks on an unexpected journey with her equally adventurous cat, Mittens. Together, they discover a glowing, magical cave hidden deep in the forest, filled with wonders and secrets waiting to be uncovered.

Writing this story felt like reliving little moments I shared with my cat, the way she’d peek around corners, chase after leaves, and stay close by, no matter where I went. Through Amelia and Mittens, I wanted to capture that same bond, that same sense of adventure, and most importantly, the message that love and loyalty can create magic in the simplest moments.
